Toista päivää Zermattissa. Sää ei helli lomalaista, vettä on satanut melkein koko ajan. Eilen en tehnyt muuta kuin makasin sängyllä ja lepuutin jalkoja, etenkin polvia. Tänään kävin Alpin Centressä tiedustelemassa Breithornin keikkaa, mutta sääennuste päivittyy iltapäivällä, jolloin päätös tehdään. Alustavasti näyttää mahdolliselta mennä heti aamusta.
Second day in Zermatt. Weather isn't kind, it's been raining almost all the time. Yesterday I just lay in bed resting my legs and knees especially. Today I visited the Alpin Centre to check the situation about the Breithorn climb, but answer was that the weather forecast will update in the afternoon, so the decision will be made then. At the moment, it looks possible to do in the morning.
Zermatt on kaupunki, joka on rakennettu pienkerrostalohotelleista, kaikki enemmän tai vähemmän samannäköisiä. Katutason tilat ovat kauppoja tai ravintoloita. Kadut ovat täynnä turisteja, jotka moninkertaistavat asukasluvun sillä paikallisia on alle kuusi tuhatta. Yksityisautoilu on kielletty, vain pienet, sähkökäyttöiset, autot suristelevat katuja pitkin turisteja väistellen.
Zermatt is a city build from small apartment houses as hotels, all looking more or less alike. Street level floors are used for shops and restaurants. Streets are filled with tourists, who multiply the population. There are less than six thousand locals. Zermatt is a car-free area. Only small, electric powered, vehicles can be seen whizzing around trying not to hit the tourists.
Keli on selkenemässä, joten tänään suunnittelin tekeväni pienen (esitteen mukaan 3h 35min) kävelylenkin.
Weather is getting better, so I'm planning on doing a small hike. The brochure says it takes three and half hours.
